Deacon's 2 Year Update

Deacon- You are TWO years old!!!

You weigh 27 lbs. and are 34.5 inches tall.

You wear size 4 diapers, 2T-3T shirts, 18-24 month pants, and size 7 shoes.

You take 5 ml of Valproic Acid (switched from 7.5 recently) and 1 ml of vitamin B6, both twice a day. You are the pickiest eater! Your favorite foods are ice cream, french toast, quesadillas, and cheetos, and you will eat some other foods that are sweet or have breading. You don't really like any fruits or juice, hate noodles and most meats. Dinner time is always an adventure with you, because one night you might eat something we give you, and then the next time we serve it you spit it out and want nothing to do with it... You still prefer to eat with your fingers, but will use a spoon if we put the food on it first.

You have become increasingly vocal each day and are starting to mimic sounds. You can say "mama," "dada," "bubba," and can make the sounds "h," "s," "la," and "ga." Now that you have learned to make kissing sounds, wave "Hiiiii," and blow raspberries, we are laughing with you all the time!
I think you may be our future musician! You love music, so any shows that have lots of songs are your favorites (Fresh Beat Band, Backyardigans, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse), but you get so mad at the tv when the song ends, that we will sometimes rewind for you to listen again.

You love playing in the bathtub, swinging, jumping on the trampoline with your brother, and any other activity that allows you to be outside. You are such a happy guy, we have nicknamed you "Smiley Face" because that is what you are always doing! The only time you get upset is when someone enters or leaves the house and you don't get to go outside (which is more frequent now that Carson and all his friends play together every day)!Sleeping is still one thing you do great! You are usually in bed by 8pm and will sleep until 9am, and then will take a 2-3 hour nap during the day. We are surprised that with how much you love climbing that you haven't tried to escape from your crib. You actually love playing in there and are perfectly content until we get you out. Some mornings/evenings we will lay in bed cracking up at the sounds we hear coming out of the monitor as you "talk" to your toys.

Physically, you are a superstar! You love to jump, throw (well, more like drop) toys, slide, wrestle with the boys, clap, and just figured out how to make yourself dizzy by spinning in circles. Climbing is your favorite activity, with your favorite spots being the tv stand, bathtub, toilet, and dishwasher door. We can only run the dishwasher while you are sleeping because you also like to turn the knobs on it while it is running. You are becoming more social, will follow us around the house, and come sit down next to us when you get tired of playing with toys. You will raise your arms to be picked up and have no problem stealing the spoon away from Dada when he is eating ice cream. You love girls who wear hairbows or anything sparkly, and last week you even played chase with a girl at Little Gym. We are working on having you look at us every time we say your name and clap twice when you want more of something.

I know they say two's are terrible, but so far we beg to differ! Your second year has started off with a bang, making us pray that this year will be renamed the "Terrific Two's"!!

5 years

Carson- you are five years old!!

  • You weigh 40.5 lbs. and are 3.5 feet tall!
  • You wear size 5T shirts and 4T pants.
  • You love ravioli and your favorite beverage is root beer.

  • You LOVE being 5 years old! Lately, every sentence starts with "Now that I am five years old..." or "Because I am a five year old..." You feel like such a big kid and think you are capable of anything now!

  • This past year you have turned into a true boy! You love all boy things, and will tell us if something is for girls, including movies and toys. Your dad is loving having someone to teach about tools and sports, and has a movie-buddy for the action flicks I'm not into.

  • You are such a leader! Your take-charge attitude is going to help you achieve great things one day, but for now gets you to talk your friends (and family) into doing it your way.

  • Although you like to fake it sometimes, there is not a shy bone in your body. You make friends instantly where ever we go and have done wonderfully at your new pre-school (a little too wonderful in the girl department...)

  • Your love for God is amazing! We are blessed to have found a church to raise you in and love that you constantly ask questions and give theories about God.

  • Video games are one of your newest obsessions, and you love Super Mario Brothers and the new Nintendo DS you received for your birthday. But, you would still rather play with friends or outside any day.

  • You have exceeded every expectation we had for you being a big brother. You love Deacon SO much and are great with him without an ounce of jealousy. You like to make sure he is included on all that we do, and now that he is bigger your favorite activity is carrying him around the house.

  • You are great with numbers and can do simple addition; we are working on learning the rest of your letters and writing. We cannot wait to see how much you learn in the next year when you enter school! We are still having trouble believing we will have an elementary student in a few short months...

  • Have I mentioned that you are silly???

Carson 4.5 Years

Carson, the picture above was taken a year ago, and look how big you have gotten:

You are 4 1/2 years old!!

  • You weigh 37 lbs. and are 3 ft. 5 in. tall.

  • You wear size 5T shirts, your tiny waist puts you mostly in 3T pants, and you fit into size 11 shoes.

  • Your favorite color is blue, favorite food is Kid Cuisine frozen dinners (even if we cook dinner, you would still prefer this), and you love every cartoon on Nickelodeon.

  • You are so musical! You make up songs all of the time and sing them to us throughout the day. Your favorite artist is Lady Gaga, and you love to sing and dance to her music in the car.

  • You are definitely Mr. Personality!! I really don't think you ever meet a stranger, and everyone instantly becomes your best friend. You are silly, charming, caring, dramatic, polite, and already a leader. You are also very independent and can do most things for yourself now like buckling in, getting dressed, and grabbing a snack, which has been a big help now that we have a new little family member.

  • You have been an amazing big brother. If Deacon cries "super hero big brother" comes to the rescue. A lot of times we will find you quietly doing something sweet for your brother like reading to him, turning a toy on, or giving him kisses. We can already tell that Deacon thinks you hung the moon.

  • You are fearless! Your favorite restaurant is Red Lobster because you can charm the hostesses into pulling a lobster out of the tank every time for you to pet. You start every adventure off with "Momma, I'm being safe," and most of the time you really are. You might be brave, but you are always careful.

  • We are thrilled that you now sleep in your own bed, in your own room, EVERY night with no problem!!! But, every once in a while we sneak you into bed with us just to snuggle!

  • Your newest obsessions are Backugans, [still] Gormiti's, and now video games. You love playing old school Super Mario Brothers and get mad at me because I don't play as good as your dad. lol You've decided for Halloween you want to be one of the plants coming out of the pipes, and the rest of us dress up as Mario characters! You also love playing Wow Wow Wubbzy games on the computer.

  • Like every four year old you love to get up and go! You would much rather be out doing something rather than hanging out at the house, like going to the park or swimming.

  • There is never a dull moment with you. You either have us rolling on the floor laughing at your antics, or making us crazy with your theatrics! We have been amazed these past few months at how perfect you and Deacon both are, while still being complete opposites! We have learned how to cherish every moment because the bigger you become, the more independent you are getting and we know one day you will be grown up with a family of your own. I can't even begin to imagine my life without you in it. I love you so much!
