Bennett: 16 Weeks

This week you had a couple of firsts: trying baby food (sweet potatoes) and hanging out in your exersaucer. You are starting to become interested in toys, so you love watching and listening to your everything spin and make noise. Deacon is more than happy to show you how they all work, since he started playing with them before you arrived.

Bennett:3 Months

You are such a smiley little guy, but we are having trouble capturing it in pictures because you are still a little surprised by the flash. Along with the smiles have come some giggles too!
Giggling isn't your only noise, you also have "conversations" with us by making the "ah" and "o" sound. You will sometimes imitate your brothers too when they whine.

You have a great appetite and will usually drink 6-8 ounces during a feeding. I think you would like to try baby food too, but with your spit-up problems I'm not sure your little tummy is ready yet.
You still sleep quite a bit throughout the day and usually only wake up once at night. You are still in your carseat at bedtime, but with your nursery now complete you should be moving into your crib soon.
I am back to work now, so you get to spend your weekdays with our fabulous neighbor, who is also your babysitter. I was able to stay home with you longer than your brothers, so we were really able to bond this summer.
Your coordination has improved so much! You can get your hand to your mouth now and like to cram your whole fist in. (I may need take a picture!) You haven't learned to roll over yet, but are very close. Your neck is strong too and you can hold you head up while being carried with no problem. We can also pull you by your hands into a sitting position.

You are starting to be our social baby! You watch us as we walk across the room, love when your brothers give you attention, and enjoy sitting up so you can see what is going on.
It's hard to believe you are already a quarter of the way through your first year! You will be running around, wrestling with your brothers before we know it.

Bennett: 11 Weeks
This week you started to figure out how your hands and arms work. You can now get those little, chubby fingers to your mouth while waiting for a pacifier to arrive. You are also growing so fast and may just be bigger than your two 'big' brothers before long!! The outfit in this picture are Deacon's old 12 month clothes!!

Bennett: 9 & 10 Weeks
You are just a happy little fella! You love staring at me while you are awake and are starting to giggle a little too!
Your hair is really growing! Your eyebrows are filling out and lashes are already longer and thicker than mine.

Bennett: 2 Months
Your firsts this month: smiling, cooing, staying in a hotel, and sitting in your bumbo. We love that your personality is starting to emerge. You are very easy going and are starting to smile and "talk" more frequently when you are awake.
Night times are still spent in your car seat, which you love. The amount of times that you wake up vary, but typically only once to eat and a few time for us to put your pacifier back in.While you are awake you enjoy your swing, being held, looking at us and around the room, your pacifier, baths, and holding your head up. Your little neck is getting stronger and stronger.
You have been a noisy little guy since being born! You snort, grunt, hum, and coo, but amazingly, your cries are fairly quiet and don't happen unless you are hungry or gassy. Your upset stomach is almost like clockwork, between 7pm and 9pm. Luckily, it is already starting to subside. We are looking forward to your spitting up disappearing. I think most of our family and friends have been a recipient of your little milky "gifts" on their clothing.
Eating may be your favorite thing to do! You drink about 6 ounces at a time, every 3-4 hours. All those bottles are filling you out, making those cute little legs, arms and cheeks nice and chubby!
Having you as the baby of our family is so fun!! My only wish is that time would slow down a little so that we could enjoy each second a little longer.

Bennett: 6 Weeks
This week you learned how to smile!!! Dada was the first to see it, even though we have been spending time every day practicing...it didn't take long before you showed me too, but I'm thinking this means you should say "Mama" first to make it fair. :)

Bennett: 2 Weeks
This week you had your two week check up at the doctor and are now past your birth weight at 8 lbs. 3.5oz. Your belly button also healed this week, so you were able to take your first bath! So far you are very easy-going and only cry when you are hungry. You have been awake a little more this week, but still sleep the majority of the time, making you our easiest child to care for at the moment!

Bennett: 1 Week

Bennett- I am hoping to take weekly photos of you with updates so that we can watch you grow your first year, just like we did for your brothers. Your photo this week is so adorable!!
We have loved our first seven days with you! This week Meme stayed at our house to help us get adjusted and was a huge help. As the week has gone on you have stayed awake a little more each day (and night). You drink about 3-4 ounces at each feeding and sleep 2-4 hours at a time. You love your swing, pacifier, snuggling, and eating.

2 WEEKS!!!
That's right, we are at two weeks with no seizures and life couldn't be better!! It is like the fog has cleared in Deacon's mind and he is doing fantastic!!
Here's a few things he has already started doing so far: - Sounds: "e" & "m", I have been sick this past week and he is now fake coughing and clearing his throat too!
- Social: The daycare was so excited because he lined up to go outside with the rest of the kids, instead of wandering around the room as usual. Deacon is staying in same room as us at home, and will even follow us around some. He is laughing in response to us and will mimic some sounds we make. Actually, he is loving us so much, he is waking up extra at night just to spend extra quality time together! We are loving it too, and have taken advantage by putting the little snuggle in bed with us.
- Fine motor: Deacon has improved at retrieving his pacifier and bottle, and getting them back to his mouth. This may be because his thumb-tucking has decreased.
- Vision: He is following us with his eyes and looking for items that have dropped instead of just searching with his hands. We also got a report from school that he watched them blowing bubbles for the first time!
- Other: He can now jump off the ground with both feet!
The funny thing is that he has picked up a preference for us, and is a little less open with others. So while we are wanting to show off all the new successes with everyone, he is not as willing to demonstrate his new tricks! lol

Deacon's B-day Invites: 51 Weeks

I cannot believe we only have one weekly picture left to take... I started the first picture with little expectations of sticking with it for the whole year, but am SO happy we were able to not only capture weekly snapshots of his cute little face, but also track little milestones that may have been forgotten.Deacon, this week you danced for the first time, which, in my opinion, is PERFECT timing for your first birthday party!

50 Weeks
Another busy week: first trip to the ER and started your first medication. One of the side effects is decreased coordination, hence the two new bumps on your head...I was waiting for the old bruises to clear up so we could take pictures for your birthday invites, but I'm thinking now we might just have to work around them because your birthday is only 2 WEEKS away!We also caved in and bought you a high chair instead of just using your bumbo to feed you in so that we can work on your hand coordination and social skills at the table with us.

49 Weeks
I think this may have been the busiest week of your life! First haircut, glasses, EEG, and MRI!! I have also started planning and ordering stuff for your first birthday party that is quickly approaching. You have taken to your glasses amazingly and are like a newborn exploring the world all over again. We have already seen a huge leap in your ability to walk without falling and social interaction!

11 Months
- You weigh 21 lbs. 8 oz. and are 29.75 inches tall!
- You are almost exclusively in 18 month clothes and wear size 4 shoes.
- This month you celebrated your first Christmas and slept through your first New Year's. You also had your first eye doctor appointment and upgraded carseats.
- Your walking has improved even more and you can now get to every room in the house with no problem! You usually walk with your arms in the air (like the picture above). We first thought it was because you were playing with your hair, but now wonder if you may do it to keep from bumping your head while toddling around.

- You have learned how to hold your bottle while sitting up and can feed yourself large cookies and crackers! You still enjoy your level 3 baby food, but will sample food from our plates too. We are excited that this is our last month to purchase formula!
- You love watching tv and will stare at anything that comes on, from cartoons to sports. You seem to like Wow Wow Wubzy and Yo Gabba Gabba the best.

- You are now sleeping through the night almost every day and typically go to bed around 7:00 pm and are out for 12 hours! You have no trouble going down and love sleeping in your crib.
- Us worrying about you this past month has reminded us to appreciate every blessing you have brought into our lives. We are counting the days until your glasses arrive and cannot wait to see your reaction to EVERYTHING, just in time for your first birthday party!
