Bennett's 34 Week Ultrasound

Because Deacon was such a big baby (9lbs. 5 oz.) our doctor wanted to see how big Bennett is getting. Last week I had my final ultrasound (ever!). Although he is squished, Bennett cooperated for some great images. Here he is sucking his thumb:
For the first time ever, I was so uncomfortable I couldn't even lay on my back and had to stay on my left side for almost the entire ultrasound, missing the show.
But, he looked perfectly healthy (and like he may have some full lips, like Deacon)!
After all the measurements were finished, he came in weighing about a week ahead: 5lbs. 6oz. putting him in the 65th percentile.
His head circumference, on the other hand, is working overtime...almost measuring 2 weeks ahead...

I haven't seen my doctor to share the results, but will this week, when we will hopefully pick out an induction date. Only about a month to go!

Baby Bennett's 20 Week Ultrasound

Technology amazes me! It has only been two years since I had Deacon, and ultrasound equipment has already become more advanced. 3-D images are much more clear. Although an outsider may still find the grainy images a little creepy, we are thrilled to see the first glimpses of our new family member! The video clips are amazing too! You can see Bennett yawning, rubbing his eyes, and what even looks like a little wave!

At 20 weeks, Bennett is about the size of banana.

I love that he looks like he is smiling in this one:

We captured 2-D images as well, and Bennett was more than happy to remind us that he is a boy!

In less than 20 weeks, we will get to see this cutie in person!

Baby #3 Gender and Name Reveal!

After waiting for what felt like an eternity, we finally had our big ultrasound today to determine the baby's sex!

As soon as the wand touched my stomach, Brian and I immediately thought we saw "something." My doctor held out saying it could have been the umbilical cord, and switched angles. This is the view we got:

HE is definitely ALL boy!!!

We feel so blessed that God has given us another of His sons to raise! (Maybe we are doing something right!) I am already envisioning Christmas excitement at our house next year with our three little men.

We are also excited to get to use all of our favorite boy names! We have decided this little guy's name will be: Bennett Asher Scott

Bennett - meaning "little blessed one"

Asher- from the bible, meaning "happiness"

And what a happy little blessing he is!

Before Thanksgiving Break, I promised all the students I would let them know immediately what the baby would be when I returned to school. I used my awesome Silhouette to create this fill-in-the-blank shirt:

And changed after my appointment. :)

11 Week Ultrasound

In a few short weeks our baby went from a bundle of cells to a tiny person! Even after two other little ones, I am still amazed by God!

I grilled the ultrasound tech to see if she could give any hint to the sex of the baby, but she said it is still another week or two until you can distinguish. (Possibly tmi: At this stage all babies have something down there, its the angle that soon determines the sex. Out: girl, Up: boy) So as of now, it is still girl-like, but it may change. We find out November 28th.

Technology has already improved since Deacon! We were even able to get some 3D images this early on!

This one shows the baby curled up facing forward with its hands up by his/her face.

We have narrowed down a few of our favorite names and would love your input! If you haven't voted, please do here.

Meet Scott Baby #3

Well it's official: there is a baby in my tummy! We were already able to see and hear a tiny heartbeat from that little ball of love!

I am 8 weeks pregnant, with May 10th looking like our due date! (The baby measured a little smaller than that, but the doctor said it was close enough to keep that date.) With two little winter babies already, I am excited to have some warmer weather to party plan for in the future!!

Our next appointment is October 25th, where I get another ultrasound and he/she will actually look like a baby!

Carson has already started throwing out name suggestions, and I now know another reason five year olds don't have kids of their own...the names sound like something a celebrity couple would pick:

Girl Names-
Geyser (what we yell when Deacon pees in the bathtub)
Gnarly

Boy Middle Name-
Climb-in-the-toilet (again, after Deacon)

We have a couple of names in mind, but still haven't completely decided yet.

35 Week Ultrasound

I had my last ultrasound today, and as you can see from the picture above, Deacon is becoming a little smushed in his home. They took about 15 images for us, and this is the only one that even slightly resembles a baby. If you turn your head to the right he is facing forward.

I have been thinking these last few weeks that Deacon is going to be a big boy, just by how crammed and heavy he feels. My feelings were confirmed at today's ultrasound when the doctor told us that at 35 weeks, he is estimated to already weigh 6 lbs. 14 oz., putting him in the 90th percentile! I was only 5 lbs. 15 oz when I was born, so my son is outweighing me a month before his due date... She thinks he will be between 8-9 lbs. when born! I am nervous.

On a positive note, I lost a pound since my last visit! So while he is gaining, I am losing. :)

Doctor visits are now weekly from this point on.

21 Week Ultrasound Pics cont.

Other people's ultrasounds aren't very exciting, so I know this post is definitely more for my benefit than yours.

When I said that the ultrasound tech gave us tons of pics I wasn't kidding. When we were leaving the office, she told me to put them all in my purse so she wouldn't get in trouble b/c they don't typically give so many. I just counted them tonight, and there are 18 total!

Tilt your head to the left, Deacon is facing forward:

I didn't ask, but I am wondering if this will be the last ultrasound we get...

Deacon Ultrasound 21 Weeks

After all the drama from the last scheduled ultrasound, today was our new appointment. Brian and his parents were able to be off work to come as well (and got conned into getting their flu shots as well). I am happy to report everything went wonderfully! No drama or crying at the doctor office, and a beautiful, HEALTHY little boy!

The ultrasound tech was so nice. She explained everything she was doing and pointed out all of the body parts as she was measuring them. She also printed out TONS of pictures of Deacon, and gave us our cd for free, which they usually charge $15 for. (I am wondering if they made a notation on my file that I was the crazy lady from last month??)

The ultrasound lasted close to an hour and we learned so many things about our new addition! He looks SO much like Carson (and Brian too, for that matter), but he did get my toes!! The ultrasound tech was like "Can you see him? He is grabbing on to the side of the uterus with his toes!!" lol Sorry Deacon, long toes seem to be a dominant trait seeing as Carson has them too. He also had the hiccups during the ultrasound and was actively moving all over the place. He measured about 2 days ahead of my due date, and already weighs 14 oz.

Below are the pictures & video clips from the cd I was given. I have quite a few more, but they still need to be scanned.

The tech was so amused by the toes, she had to take a picture

Profile. He has some smoochie lips on him! :)

The tech said they usually don't do 4D images until 27 weeks, when the baby has plumped up a little, but decided to give it a try. They aren't the best quality, but we definitely got an idea what our little guys face looks like!

It will be a couple more weeks before he opens his eyes

The clips are short, but are fun to see him in action!

The blinking you see is his heartbeat & the reason he is bouncing is b/c of the hiccups!

Next appointment in 7 weeks for the dreaded Glucose Test...

Surprise, Surprise!!!

So, yesterday we had our 12 week doctor appointment, got to hear the heartbeat and everything looked great! We scheduled an ultrasound for 4 weeks out, on Sept. 3rd, which is when the doctor said we would find out the sex of the baby! I was so excited that we only had 4 weeks left!

Well, today I had an ultrasound to test for down syndrome. (which appeared to look good) After she was done running the test, she decided to look further down to see if we could find anything! I had no expectations of finding out the sex of the baby today, but the baby decided to let us in on HIS secret...

It's a BOY!!!!!!
You can kinda see a little something in this one as well!

The ultrasound technician was very nice and even gave us a couple of extra pictures!! And now that the baby is getting bigger, it is much easier to make out everything in the images.
Looking down at his feet

Lounging around & giving a little wave

We are thrilled to have a healthy little boy growing inside me!! I can't wait to see what he looks like and compare his features to Carsons! Hopefully he won't be ALL Brian, the way Carson is, and maybe look a LITTLE like me...lol

Now onto the names...before I got pregnant, we were at church and I saw a little boy with a nametag that said "Deacon." I thought, I love that name, I hope I have a little boy, just so I can name him Deacon. Well then I got pregnant and really liked the name Bennett. Brian was leaning towards Deacon, and I was leaning towards Bennett...well today when we found out we were having a boy, we swapped! I am leaning towards Deacon, and he is to Bennett...lol We like both a lot and they both have great Christian meanings:
Deacon- Pastor
Bennett- Little Blessed One

Luckily, we still have 6 months to decide!!

Baby #2!

As most of you know, we are thrilled to be adding another member to our family!! Carson's new brother or sister will be here February, 2010. Depending on which dr. you ask, it is either the 18th or the 22nd... So as of today, I am right at 11 weeks, only one week away from the end of my first trimester!! We have been trying to choose between 2 doctors, so we have been blessed with extra ultrasounds! (3 visits already):

6 weeks - Our dr. called this the "double bubble," pretty much just a pic of the yolk sac

Week 8- Head is to the left, can kinda make out an arm and the feet

Week 8 - Head & chest (head to the left) On the ultrasound it looks like the baby is smiling, though the quality of the scanned image isn't as clear

Week 9 - Baby is facing forward, head on top. This one is my favorite b/c you can even see the sweet little face, and the arms and legs! It sure looks to me like there is something between the legs, but the dr. said "that" hasn't formed yet, so it is probably a tail or the umbilical cord.

We are also starting to debate baby names! The girl is pretty much decided, although the middle name isn't set. We are still trying to decide a boy name, and have it narrowed down to two, but the middle name will for sure be Kyle (my maiden name). Help us decide by voting yay or ney on our choices:
