Easter 2012

We were able to spend Easter with both sets of grandparents this year! Unfortunately, a stomach bug hit this 9 months pregnant momma, keeping me from enjoying most of the festivities and instead toilet-hugging for 3 days... Brian and the g-parents did a great job helping our guys celebrate and took lots of photos, though!

Carson (with the help of Pops) did a great job decorating Easter eggs! If you look closely at the blue/yellow one, you can see that they included Deacon too!
Easter morning the boys woke up to Easter baskets and confetti eggs.
Deacon was captivated (well, at least for a few seconds!)
Carson got more candy than he will ever eat, but the kids in the neighborhood are happy to help him out...
On their first egg hunt, Carson didn't have too much competition with Deacon, and took his time looking for eggs. And for the first time ever, I think we found them all! Usually my mom will find a couple in the flower beds months later, but the number the Easter Bunny told us matched the number we found!
Because Deacon wasn't super dedicated to the hunt, Carson was an amazing big brother and would share some of his finds with Deacon. :)
Deacon was happy to just sit back and let the eggs come to him! lol

Next, we headed to Brian's parents, where baskets were waiting!
Grandma made a fantastic lunch, then the boys and their cousins set out for their next egg hunt!

We have started a fun tradition over at their house for the grown-ups: after the kids find all the eggs, they empty out their money and hide the eggs for the adults while we wait inside. The adults are hard-core about the hunt and winner gets money! If only I wasn't sick and pregnant, I would have won! It's on next year!

Easter

We had a great Easter last weekend at my parents house in the country.

Carson dyed Easter Eggs, and they turned out gorgeous.

The Easter Bunny made sure to spoil the boys! (For some reason we weren't able to convince Meme to keep the Moon Dough at her house...)

Carson loved his goodies.

Deacon liked the eggs. He held, shook, and LOOKED at them!

...and then dropped it when he was over it.

Carson HAS to be the most amazing big brother ever. He would find a couple of eggs for himself, then bring some for Deacon's basket. I love that kid!

These past few months have really strengthened our relationship with God, and Brian and I both agree that we have never felt closer to Him. Our faith has grown so much from putting our son in His hands and seeing the miracles He has made. This Easter was the first time I truly understood the magnitude of the holiday, and the sacrifice that was made for each of us. Hope yours was fab too!

Easter

The night before Easter my nephews stayed over and we started off the holiday by dyeing Easter eggs. As you can see, females are definitely in the minority in our family now...

Deacon was more interested at staring at his toes, than the eggs.

Waiting for the eggs to dye.

Ethan provided us with some music while we worked. Doesn't he totally look like a teenager!?!

Our eggs:

The boys stayed up late playing wii, but eventually fell asleep so that the Easter Bunny could stop by. Carson got the "Cars" basket filled with Gormiti & Deacon received the chicken basket with some pacifiers, hats and a teether. Ethan had money in his basket and Austin's had Gormiti's too.

Deacon & Brian got dressed before we woke up the boys. I thought Carson & Brian looked so much alike, but I think Brian & Deacon look like twins!! They are so cute in their matching yellow outfits!

Carson was the first to hop out of bed to check out his Easter basket. He was thrilled to find new Gormiti's (yes, he is still obsessed!).
Then the boys hunted eggs. It was raining outside, so the Easter Bunny had to hide them in our house.

The boys were happy with their finds:

The rest of us got dressed for church and we had time to take our first family photos. (It is hard to pose two little boys!)

Our church service was awesome!! There were so many people there that they set up chairs in the lobby and we watched the service on the tv. Carson came out of his class and was excited to tell us "Jesus died on the cross for us!"
They looked so cute while we sat in the lobby, I just had to snap a picture of them. Deacon already loves Carson so much; look at him staring at his big brother!
Carson was so sweet and wanted to take a picture of his little brother. I think we may have a future photographer on our hands.
After church we went to Brian's parents for lunch and an egg hunt. Kollette is such a great cook, so we all filled up on yummy ham and sides before going outside (the weather ended up turing out gorgeous) to start the hunt.

After the kids finished hunting, they decided to hide eggs for the adults. Since I was hunting, I didn't get a chance to take pictures, but let's just say the adults didn't play fair & nice like our well-behaved children.

Eggs & Mudbugs

What beautiful weather we have had in Houston! We took full advantage yesterday by spending the day outside, starting with an Egg Drop.

A local church puts on this event where a helicopter comes and drops thousands of Easter eggs on a football field for the kiddos to hunt. We went last year and was excited to see that it was moved to the school across the street from our neighborhood, and they divided it into hunts by age groups, instead of just one big hunt. Carson had so much fun, and there were so many eggs for the kids to hunt, that once Carson's basket was full he had to stop!

By the time Carson was done hunting, my sister and her boys arrived. Carson and Austin tested out all the other activities that were set up:

Next we went and fulfilled our Spring tradition: Crawfish!!!

Luckily Carson is adventurous with appetite, and has always loved eating crawfish. But what he loves even more is PLAYING with crawfish.

LIVE. CRAWFISH.

I don't think he got my sensitivity for animals though. At one point he came and told me "Okay Momma, I am done playing with the crawfish. I want to eat some crawfish."

Deacon can't wait until he can join the fun...
