Little Wranglers Rodeo

I know I haven't posted in forever! I keep telling myself I will catch up our blog, but life keeps interrupting my free time. :)

I am writing this blog on my phone in the parking lot while Brian is grabbing some groceries from inside Wal-mart.

I am loving my new positions at school as the reading intervention and professional communication teacher.  Although I don't teach special education, I'm the department chair.

One of the bonuses is that I get all the district emails about upcoming events in the community for our kids, which means we also find fun activities to do with Deacon.

This week I received info about the Little Wranglers Rodeo for special kiddos.  They opened the doors early for all the families to participate in the activities without the crowds.

They had a petting zoo, horseback riding, carnival games, and a wagon ride.

They also had amazing volunteers who didn't bat an eye when Deacon had a meltdown.

We all had a great morning together as a family.

And Deacon left with his very own trophy, belt buckle, and cowboy hat (not that he let us put it on him)!

No News is Good News

I totally realize that I have been slacking on our blog...

But I've learned that spending time with the family is so much more fun than blogging about them.

The Scott Boys have been keeping us busy and are growing like weeds.

Carson:

Our biggest brother is turning into a mini pre-teen and is becoming more and more independent, which is hard because he has always been our autonomous child.  Combine this with his ladies-man tendency and we are definitely in trouble!

Here is the blushing boy who got SO embarrassed to have girls waving at him in front of his mom during lunch:

What's ironic is that Mr. Independent can also be stubborn when it comes to doing things on his own.  Over spring break we finally taught him to tie his own shoes.

With his new found confidence, he learned to ride his bike the same week!  Carson is now riding every day and has already perfected some cool tricks like riding without hands and popping wheelies, terrifying mom.

Deacon:
When it comes to learning new tricks Baby D is a pro!  (I promise to write a blog with more details soon.)

We celebrated Deacon's 3rd birthday in February.  I still have no idea how three years have flown by!

In lieu of a birthday party at the house, we knew Deacon would prefer celebrating his winter birthday in the water.  Luckily Schlitterbahn has an indoor waterpark that was perfect!  Look how THRILLED our sweet guy was:

We all had a blast too!

...especially Bennett, who sampled his first pizza and refused to let go!

Bennett:
Speaking of time flying, our Benny Boo-Boo will be ONE next week!

He recently had his first haircut and did amazing!

Our dimpled boy is the champion crawler of the family.  Carson and Deacon never took the time to perfect the art, but Bennett has learned to race around the house on all fours!  He is great at pulling up and walking while holding onto something, but still isn't too sure about doing it independently.

I had no idea how much fun a house full of boys would be!  We stay busy playing

...laughing

...and snuggling

So, while I should feel guilty about not blogging as frequently, I don't. :)

Sleeping Beauties

God continues to amaze us with blessings that far surpass our expectations.

We witnessed a perfect example tonight when we peeked in the boys' room to find our beautiful big brothers snuggled up in bed together.

I honestly thought this was one of those touching moments we would miss out on, but I underestimated God (and our sweet Deacon)! Can't wait to see what else He has up His sleeve!

Bathing Bubbas

Bennett loves following Deacon everywhere and involving himself in whatever Deacon is doing! Most days Deacon barely tolerates his presence. But moments like this make me so excited about how close they will one day be.

Making a Spectacle

One of Deacon's favorite new activities is putting my glasses on. (Woohoo, first glimmer of imagination!)

After taking his picture in my glasses, we thought we would pull out his old glasses to try on, which he found hysterical! That led to us looking up his baby photos... and sharing all the fun with you!

Valentine's Day

The boys had a great Valentine's Day!

Carson had a class party, and I'm sure all the parents and his teacher loved his gift:
Silly String!!

Deacon's were a little safer:

And we made sure that he and his gluten-free friend were included:

Melissa and Bennett went to Deacon's class party at an indoor bouncing facility and took pictures for us.

Brian and I aren't big Valentine's Day celebrators.  We gave each other gifts, but were happy to hang out at the house and eat dinner with the kiddos. :)

Old MacDonald's Farm

The weather was gorgeous today, so we took advantage and spent a family day at Old MacDonald's Farm.  It was perfect: no crowd, all activities are included in the cost of admission, entire farm and all water is completely fenced off (aka: Deacon-proof), multiple playgrounds, and lots of friendly animals to pet and feed!

Bennett spent the day practicing standing!

 Rabbits:
 Goats:

 Sheep:

Deacon did amazing!!  He would walk up and pet the animals without us prompting him and even helped to feed them!
 Pigs:

He doesn't look excited here, but he really loved riding the horse.
Carson loved it too, and was especially thrilled that his horse stopped to poop! hehe

 The hay was Bennett's favorite!
